NP-24 on 40th anniversary of NP-1

Harkening back to Fridjof Nansen and the Fram, Soviets and later the Americans, have established drift stations in the Arctic Ocean. Beginning in 1937 and North Pole -1 (NP-1) the Russians have had scientists on ice floes. After Ski Jump in 1952, Fletcher Ice Island (T-3) was in operation from 1953 to 1975.
